New Delhi: A fire broke out in an AC coach of the Jhansi bound 04062 Taj Super Fast (SF) Express shortly after it left New Delhi railway station on Saturday morning, railway officials said.
The Taj Super Fast Express left New Delhi at 6.56 am and the incident took place at Asawati railway station in Haryana at 7.40 am, when it had covered a distance of about 50 kms of its journey.
“The smoke was noticed by the station master and hence the train was stopped,” a railway official said.
Northern Railway Chief Public Relations Officer (CPRO) Deepak Kumar said, “Smoke was coming out due to blockage of brake block. The train was stopped at Asauti railway station between Hazrat Nizamuddin-Palwal section. The fire was doused and all the passengers are safe.”
Officials confirmed that after a thorough technical check, the train left Asawati station at 8.30 am.
