Life Certificate Online: SBI launches ‘Video Life Certificate’ service for pensioners

Earlier, senior citizens had to go to the bank to submit life certificates to get pension. SBI’s new rules have now made it easier for pensioners and helping them save their precious time.

Informing about the new system, SBI had tweeted, Now submit your #LifeCertificate from the comfort of your home! The launch of our #VideoLifeCertificate service will allow pensioners to submit their life certificates through a simple video call.

Steps to avail SBI Video Life Certificate service:

Step 1: Visit the official website of SBI

Step 2: Tap on ‘Video LC’ to start the video life certificate submission process

Step 3: Enter SBI Pension Account Number and Captcha

Step 4: Now, you will receive an OTP on your registered mobile number – Enter it

Step 5: A new page will open in front of you – Click on ‘Start Journey’ option and then click on ‘I am ready’ option and keep your PAN card with you.

Step 6: Once you have availed the video call service, you will be able to easily talk to any SBI official

Step 7: Now, you have to submit the 4-digit verification number that appears on the screen

Step 8: SBI official will click on a picture of you along with your PAN card to complete the process of submission of life certificate

Step 9: If your Video Life Certificate is rejected, you will be informed through an SMS. In such a situation, you will have to go to the bank branch to submit the life certificate.

According to SBI, this special facility is available only to pensioners (other than family pensioners). This means that the wife of a pensioner who is getting pension from the government will not be able to avail this facility. The bank further informed that the process of video life certificate is paperless and free. In the latest update, pensioners who are 80 years or less will have to submit their life certificate before November 30.
