Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal said that all schools in Delhi will remain closed for a week and work from home will remain in all government offices. Employees of government offices will be available on emergency call. Advisory will also be sent to private offices for work from home. Also, all construction activities will remain closed between November 14 and 17. CM Arvind Kejriwal said that a lockdown can be imposed in Delhi if the situation worsens due to pollution. Now its proposal will be placed before the Supreme Court. The Chief Minister made it clear that we are not imposing a lockdown right now. If the situation worsens, then only by taking all the agencies including the central government into confidence, they will take this tough step. I hope from the people of Delhi that we all together will tackle the problem of pollution in a good way. Deputy CM Manish Sisodia said that emergency-like situation has arisen due to increase in pollution. Therefore, all schools, colleges and educational institutions in Delhi will remain closed for the next week.

In view of the increasing pollution in Delhi for the last few days, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal held an emergency meeting at the Delhi Secretariat today. In this emergency meeting, Deputy CM Manish Sisodia, Urban Development Minister Satyendar Jain, Transport Minister Kailash Gehlot, Environment Minister Gopal Rai and Chief Secretary besides senior officers of the three MCDs and Delhi Police were present. In this important meeting, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, along with ministers and officials, deliberated on what and necessary steps can be taken to control the increasing pollution in Delhi and how they can provide relief from pollution to the people of Delhi. was discussed. During this meeting, decisions were taken with unanimous consent to take four major steps by the Delhi Government.

Giving information about four important decisions taken in the meeting, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal said that the pollution in Delhi has increased significantly since the last few days. Air Index data shows that till September 30, Delhi’s air was almost clear. The air index was below 100, which is considered satisfactory (satisfactory range). At the same time, the pollution level in Delhi has been increasing continuously since 30 September. In the states around Delhi, the farmers are forced to burn the stubble and its smoke is coming into Delhi, due to which the pollution is increasing. This is not the time to point fingers at each other and we don’t have that intention either. At this time, the purpose of the Delhi government and the people of Delhi is that how to deal with the emergency-like situation that has arisen due to the increase in pollution inside Delhi and how to provide relief to the people of Delhi, relief to the children of your Delhi. How to reach, so that they can breathe clean. In this regard, today we had an emergency meeting at the Delhi Secretariat. In the meeting broadly we have decided to take four steps.

Giving information on the lockdown, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal said that a suggestion was coming out in the Supreme Court from time to time that if the situation becomes very bad, then can Delhi be completely locked down. We are working out what will be the meaning of that lockdown. We are not imposing lockdown right now. Right now we are making a proposal for that and we will place this proposal before the Supreme Court. Along with this, talks will be held with all the agencies including the central government. Because it would be a huge step. Therefore, if such a situation arises by taking all the agencies including the Central Government, CPCB, Travel into confidence, then all private vehicles, construction, transport, industrial activities inside Delhi can be stopped. Right now we will put it before the court only as a proposal.
