Mumbai. Kathak Emperor Pandit Birju Maharaj has passed away (RIP Pandit Birju Maharaj). Birju Maharaj breathed his last at the age of 83. Birju Maharaj, who was awarded Padma Vibhushan, was admitted to Saket Hospital in Delhi, he had a heart attack. Pandit Birju Maharaj gave a new identity to Kathak not only in India but all over the world. Along with this, choreography in some Bollywood films has given him a new color.

Madhuri Dixit and Jackie Shroff were his favorite actors. He believed that Madhuri is also a great dancer like Meena Kumari and Waheeda Rehman. In the song Mohe Rang Do Lal from the film Bajirao Mastani, Deepika Padukone taught Kathak by Pindit Birju Maharaj. Deepika had told in an interview that she cried while shooting it because she could not dance properly.

Madhuri has paid tribute to Birju Maharaj on social media, posted a photo of herself and wrote, ‘He was a legend, but he had childlike innocence. He was my mentor, but also my friend. He taught me the intricacies of dancing and acting. He never fails to make me laugh with his funny anecdotes. He has left behind saddened by fans and students, but he has also left a legacy that we will all carry on.
