CSIR-CIMAP: 10-day Kisan Mela begins, Souvenir “Aus Gyanya” released

Lucknow. CSIR-Central Institute of Medicinal and Aromatic Plants (CSIR-CIMAP) organized Kisan Mela 2022 at its campus today. Due to the COVID pandemic, this year Kisan Mela is being organized from 21st January to 31st January 2022 (except 26th January 2022). About 200 farmers, entrepreneurs and industry representatives and scientists of CSIR-CIMAP are participating in the fair every day. The 10-day Kisan Mela was inaugurated today by Dr. Prabodh Kumar Trivedi, Director, CSIR-CIMAP. Following all the covid protocols, this program is being organized in the institute in which only persons already registered and double vaccinated will be allowed to enter the Kisan Mela.

Dr. Prabodh Kumar Trivedi, Director, CSIR-CIMAP, in his inaugural address spoke about the farmer centric activities carried out by CSIR-CIMAP in different parts of the country. He also said that despite the COVID pandemic, the scientists and staff of the institute have been providing online training, planting material and services to the farmers, which has helped in increasing their income. During his address to the farmers, he stressed that the institute is taking high quality research in varieties and technologies of medicinal and aromatic plants to the general public through these fairs, and the fruits of institutional research will help the farmers to increase their income. are helping. Dr. Trivedi welcomed farmers and entrepreneurs from different states of the country participating in this Kisan Mela. Through this Kisan Mela, farmers from far and wide get information about the advanced species of medicinal and aromatic plants and agricultural techniques developed by CIMAP and the herbal products made from them.

Kisan Mela Souvenir “Aus Gyanya” was also released on this occasion. A mobile van displaying Moringa based products like tea, soap, oil, powder, capsule and tablet, etc. was also flagged off by Dr. Prabodh Kumar Trivedi, Director, CSIR-CIMAP, at the Kisan Mela. The products are being developed by ‘JVKS Company’ under the technical guidance of CSIR-CIMAP. A newly developed Rosary of more than 80 varieties of roses collected from various ICAR and educational institutions of the country was also inaugurated by the Director, CSIR-CIMAP on the occasion.

Dr. Saudan Singh conducted a special seminar in CIMAP Kisan Mela and shared with the farmers about the early mint technology and the cultivation of geranium and Dr. VR Singh told the participants about the plant material promotion of medicinal and aromatic plants. .

Kisan Goshti Dr. Saudan Singh, Dr. Rajesh Verma, Dr. Sudeep Tandon, Dr. Ram Suresh Sharma, Dr. Rakesh Pandey, Dr. Rishikesh, Dr. Sanjay Kumar etc. expressed their views. In the Kisan Mela, discussion on medicinal and aromatic plants from production to market, sale of advanced plant material and publications, demonstration of CIMAP products, live demonstration of distillation/processing, training on making incense sticks and rose water, demonstration of early agricultural technology of Mentha A special training program was organized for the incorporation of medicinal crops into the traditional cropping system. The program was broadcast through virtual medium. The Convener of Kisan Mela, Dr. Sanjay Kumar conducted the program.

On the first day of Kisan Mela 150 farmers were provided planting material of ‘Kosi’ and ‘Sim-Kranti’ as well as 500 kg of planting material of new high yielding menthol mint, ‘Sim-Unnati’.
