Modi on top again: Highest rating in the survey list of 13 world leaders, Boris Johnson at the bottom

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi continues to top the chart of global leaders with the highest approval ratings, surpassing US President Joe Biden and Canadian counterpart Justin Trudeau. The latest approval rating by data intelligence company Morning Consult shows that PM Modi has a net approval rating of 50, with 71 per cent of the respondents voting in approval while 21 per cent voted in disapproval.

Ever since Morning Consult began tracking each leader, PM Modi’s approval rating was at its peak during the nationwide lockdown in May 2020, while it was at its lowest during the disastrous second Covid wave last year.

The company is currently tracking approval ratings from government leaders in Australia, Brazil, Canada, France, Germany, India, Italy, Japan, Mexico, South Korea, Spain, the UK and the US.

British Prime Minister Boris Johnson, who has faced criticism over reports of him partying in lockdown, received a rating of -43 as 69 per cent of respondents disapprove of the Conservative UK leader.

Other leaders who have negative approval ratings are Biden, Trudeau, Brazil’s Jair Bolsonaro, France’s Emmanuel Macron, South Korea’s Moon Jae-in, Australia’s Scott Morrison and Spain’s Pedro Sachez.

Ratings are based on a seven-day moving average of adult residents, with sample sizes varying by country.
