Know 5 interesting facts about Yamaha’s sporty e-scooter

A few days back, Yamaha launched the EMF electric scooter in Taiwan as its second EV offering, apart from the EC-05. Unlike a lot of boring looking electric scooters, the EMF is a bit different, not only in terms of looks but also in terms of features. Here are its top five highlights.

While most electric scooters are usually associated with a conservative design approach, the Yamaha EMF’s bodywork tells a completely opposite story. Its structure is quite taut and futuristic. The vertically stacked apron-mounted LED projector lights almost look like a Transformers movie. Fans of floorboard acreage may be a little disappointed, as the central spine takes up most of the space.

power range

Yamaha has equipped the EMF with a liquid-cooled permanent magnet motor that is developing 7.6kW and 26Nm. It is mated to twin swappable battery units comprising 21kg of total weight of 114kg. Yamaha Taiwan is yet to reveal the range and charging time details.

Supporting its future design is the EMF’s feature list. Apart from LED lights, it offers a fully digital instrument cluster with Bluetooth compatibility, navigation, rear parked space and NFC-enabled smart keys.

decent base

The Yamaha EMF is built on a steel tube frame suspended over conventional telescopic forks and twin rear springs. Its braking hardware includes a front and rear disc along with a combined braking system. The EMF rides on 10-inch aluminum alloys wrapped in 100-section front and 130-section rear tyres.

price and availability

In Taiwan, the Yamaha EMF sells for TWD 99,800 (approximately Rs 2.68 lakh) as of March 31, which makes it quite expensive in the Indian context. But this is not our concern, as the e-scooter will not be coming to India anytime soon. In addition to this, Yamaha will also offer a complimentary NFT EMF model to the first 200 buyers.
