Budget 2022: Government will bring battery swapping policy for charging stations of electric vehicles

Budget 2022: Regarding the announcements related to electric vehicles in her Budget 2022, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said that the government will come up with a battery-swapping policy, which will give a boost to the electric vehicle ecosystem. Presenting this year’s budget, the Finance Minister said, ‘To promote the use of public transport in urban areas, work will be done under the zero fossil fuel policy. Keeping in view the space constraints in urban areas, a ‘Battery Swapping Policy’ will be introduced.

The government will introduce a new policy for battery swapping to promote the use of electric vehicles and achieve its larger decarbonization goals. At the same time, battery swapping policy will also be brought for setting up battery stations on a large scale. “The private sector will be encouraged to develop sustainable and innovative models for battery and energy as a service which will increase efficiency in the EV ecosystem,” the finance minister said.

The Finance Minister says that the focus will be on including clean technology and electric vehicles for public transport in India. He added that a national battery swapping policy, if implemented properly, would have a positive impact on EV manufacturers.

What is Battery Swapping?

Explain that battery swapping means changing the exhausted battery back to full charge. This eliminates the worry of replacing the battery. Along with this, it is also helpful in buying new batteries and running electric vehicles at a low cost.
