New Delhi: Money has also been given for sports in the general budget. The government has increased the sports budget. In this budget, it has been a matter of benefit for the sportspersons and sports organizations, as a bumper increase of about Rs 300 crore has been made in the budget for youth and sports affairs. Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman had released sports budget of Rs 2596.14 crore for the financial year 2021-22. But in the year 2022-23, the budget of the game has increased to Rs 3062.60 crore. This time the sports budget has increased by Rs 305.58 crore.
Money has been increased in the youth empowerment program in the budget, last year Rs 108 crore was spent in it, whereas now this time Rs 138 crore has been given. The budget of Khelo India program has also been increased, last year it was Rs 879 crore, which has been increased to Rs 974 crore this time. The budget money is used for all the preparations for the Olympic Games, the budget of other bodies including Sports Authority of India, Athletics Authority of India is also released.

Let us inform that in the financial year 2020-21, the government had released Rs 2826.92 crore for sports, which was later reduced in view of the affected sports tournaments due to the pandemic. Later, due to Corona, the Tokyo Olympics and domestic tournaments were postponed and the government reduced the budget to 1878 crores. After this, a sports budget of Rs 2596 crore was announced in the year 2021, which was about Rs 231 crore less than the original budget of 2020-21.
